The Burney/Hatchet Ridge wind plant said summer is their down time, When we visited them March 28, there was a lot of wind, but 15 towers were iced up and automatically shut down, so they were only operating a little over 50% capacity.
One of the guys in their forestry office says it is fully operational now. They are using all the power internally, not selling any, so maybe there is potential to ramp it up more.
Tom, do you have a copy of the Weed airport wind study you could send me? It is no longer on the web. I gather it was not that encouraging, but I would like to keep the idea of a wind farm in Siskiyou County alive.
