network of Alaska energy enthusiasts & experts

While we are all waiting for alternative energy sources to be incorporated into the grid there is much each of us can do at home and in the work place to reduce energy use. Those of you in the network probably already unplug electrical devices at home. Do you and your co workers feel empowereed to unplug fax and copy machines, shredders, tool chargers or other devices. Do all the computers in your workplace turn off at the end of a work day?

In food service, those warmers and signs can also be disconnected for some portion of the day.

Under a federal grant I produced a set of tools for the U-Med organizations to engage employees in energy use reduction by empowering them to audit their work space and take the initiative to make change. These materials are available to anyone.
