"Chet - welcome to the Energy Network. It's great to get more organizers from the Alaska Solar Tour online. Is that a SkyStream 3.7 you installed? I finished an Enphase PV system yesterday in Kenai. They have an excellent web interface;…"

"Jennifer, You asked for a photo of a 60' monopole for Kodiak HS. I have found the 60' monopole gives poor results. The Alaska Solar Tour has turned down 2 similar installations as the owners were not getting the output they were…"

"One option is to just put up an Air-X, you can get them cheaper than an anemometer, then use a pentametric to log your data."

Thanks Phil for the info on the SkyStream and pole height. The wind turbine, as well as many other components for installation, has already been donated. The primary purpose of this project will be education rather than energy recovery. We are currently looking at either a 60' or 45' pole. We prefer to have the 60' pole for the additional energy production, but a pole over 50' requires a zoning variance from the Borough. The picture will be used in the variance request to show that this turbine is not a disturbing sightsore for neighbors.

No, I took a windmill install class in Wisconson... It didn't work at first, so I got the opportunity to climb up there and do a bit of troubleshooting. Didn't know Craft had any ARE's installed - I live in Delta, met you in Anchorage actually, you called me earlier this summer about potentially doing some work - he's just got a Northwind 100 and a bigger (900kW?) turbine up here.
Doing some research yesterday for anemometer info, and came across this site. This Spring I want to put up a small tower on a piece of property I bought so I can get idea of whether wind will be viable there. Trying to figure out how to go as cheap as possible, of course. Have you done any testing with anemometers? I want to be able to direct plug into an internet connection, without having to keep a computer running there. First day of research didn't lead me to any affordable pre-fab system.
