2011 ALASKA SOLAR TOUR

550 Alaskans from around the state visited 42 Renewable Energy sites in 2010.   We invite the public, sponsors, and installers to participate in this year’s event.

This is an annual tour of unique renewable energy sites around the state. The Alaska Solar Tour is funded by the Alaska Center for Appropriate Technology in conjunction with the American Solar Energy Society, Kenai Resilience, and our sponsors.

The Alaska Solar Tour features home and business sites in our community that showcase installations of solar thermal, PV (photovoltaic), wind turbines, hydro power, and green building features.  Find out how your neighbors are trimming their energy bills, generating their own electricity, and improving the future of our planet by living sustainably today. 

Join us in tribute to the trail blazer Alaskans who have ventured out ahead of the crowd using a cleaner, safer, and renewable source of energy.

You may visit the sites free if you carpool and drive your own car.  Please follow the bus as sites will only be open while the bus is there. 

After the solar tour there will be a community potluck celebration at K-Beach elementary school.  There will be music and a demonstration of a home built solar panel.  There is no charge for the potluck.

You can buy tickets online w/ credit card for $40  or   You may also buy tickets from any Kenai Resilience member KenaiResilience.org or at River City Books in Soldotna.  

( Kenai Resilience will receive $10 from each ticket sold locally)
